Ever since technology was first invented, having access to the media through the use of technology has also emerged, from television to radio, to communicating through digital media. Needless to say, media and technology has evolved efficiently over the years.
Starting off with television and radio, it has impacted peoples’ lives drastically. With television and radio, it allows people to obtain important information along with having access to entertainment that could be enjoyed at home. The time of watching television has also increased overtime.
With films, people would usually collectively gather at theaters to watch new released movies. However, now that many people have access to technology, there is an increase of people who now watch films on streaming platforms, such as YouTube, Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, and other streaming platforms. There has been an estimate of 38 percent of US citizens who had access to Netflix in 2013. According to Google, Inc. in 2013, there were one billion viewers every month on YouTube.
Advertising has also been changed significantly through the use of media and technology. Compared to many years ago without the media and technology available, companies that use advertising couldn’t reach them to people the same way that it is getting reached now. A majority of advertisements are seen everywhere, including billboards and various other platforms.
Having technology in education is very crucial and beneficial, especially when work is all online. The digital media and technology has changed education in many ways. It gives students more access to opportunities and resources to enhance their learning experience. Since we are all going through a pandemic, students and workers have to work online than in person, so having technology is imperative at times like this and it also won’t limit peoples’ need to work.
Lastly, using digital media and technology has changed the way people communicate and interact with each other. It has given us the ability to communicate digitally and it allows us to communicate with people from other parts of the world without being there in person.
Ultimately, without having technology, we wouldn’t be able to have access to more opportunities and resources that we do now. The digital media and technology has opened many doors to people and has improved many things immensely.
