Most of us have already started online school. This is going to be an interesting school year as numerous schools require e-learning due to COVID-19. It is going to be a rough year because we have to spend our time on screen for over 5 hours a day. I am going to share tips on how to get the most out of online school.
1. Stay/get organized. This year, teachers aren’t going to constantly remind you of upcoming tests and homework due. You are going to be responsible for that. To keep track of all your work, get a planner or use a digital one such as Google Calendar.
2. Make most of your resources. Now that we are getting more access to the Internet, we might as well use it. No, I am not telling you to cheat on a test or something like that, I am telling you to use your resources. If you ever need help with something, you can ask your teacher by office hours, sending emails, or just searching it up.
3. Another tip I have for you is to take breaks. I know that you are going to be seated in one spot the whole day, but you need stretch breaks in between. This can be a 5 second thing or even longer. Get your blood flowing.
4. Manage your time carefully! I understand how much you might want to use TikTok or Instagram right after your classes end, but be mindful of the time you just spent online. Do your homework, read a physical book, just please do something that isn’t digital right after class.
5. Eliminate distractions. You are most likely taking class from your bedroom which means that your phone is probably around you. You are now in class so don’t start sending texts to your friend in the middle of school. You wouldn’t do something like this at school if we went regularly, right, so don't do it right now. Having a different tab open and doing something else on it is equivalent to having a phone out in normal school.
One last tip I have for you is to reward yourself. It has been a tiring day for you listening to your teachers talking about school and doing online work. Award yourself with something.
