In an attempt to both describe and mimic human thinking and cognition to a systematic and symbolic system, AIs were formed. AI or Artificial intelligence is the ability of a computer program or a machine to perform the same cognitive processes oh humans such as to think without being programmed to do so. This, in turn, will make computers "smart" and able to solve complex problems and even learn information however not the same way humans do
The first appearance came to life is none other than Greek mythology such as Crete and TALOS they then shifted to novels like Frankenstein (of course there the AI is evil and that’s not what we hope to see in our future)
through Alan Turing’s theory of computation, computers were formed in the late 19th century. now the first computer took the space of an entire room and over the course of the years, the chip could be micro-sized to fit a miniature phone. using those same principles and advances, artificial human-like intelligence can be formed forming a different type of brain- one completely electric and using both formal logic and advances in cybernetics and neurology to develop and produce
The term was coined in 1955 by John McCarthy in a conference at Dartmouth College. this conference attracted those who were interested in AI and its developments they spent their time writing programs, brainstorming ideas, even playing checkers. this sparked a lot of interest and was taken as something serious as the Department of Defence began allocating money to research labs that were formed all around the world. despite the technological advances, the researchers were unable to create a code for the fundamental human factor of both emotion and common sense. no field or science could account for the unique way of human perception and reason. consequently, the funding for AI research was cut.
Despite its absence, AI research revived in the 1980s, and by 1985, 1 billion dollars were spent on AI. The innovative technologies that use fields of psychology, neuroscience, mathematics. computer science and even philosophy encouraged both U.S. and British governments to proceed with the funding for the project yet due to the collapse of the Lisp machines funding was pulled again
What they hoped to achieve from making this machine was a flexible tool which both observers and interprets the external data found in the environment and performs the necessary functions to increase its potential of success through learning from such data and using it at some goal- one that might be able to drive cars, think, even feel.
Currently, the worlds first AI robot citizen known as “Sophia” was both created and programmed by Hanson Robotics. it is even recognized with a citizenship of Saudi Arabia.
